This blog is about my thoughts on schools and learning and how we might lead in those spaces. After 20 years of principalship at Opotiki College and Hobsonville Point Secondary School (Foundation Principal) I now operate a consultancy, HMWLead, to support school leaders. I spend my spare time running ultramarathons, listening to vinyl records and keeping an eye on what my family is up to. They all surprise me.

Sam Has Left Home
Our middle son Sam has jumped on the plane and flown to Invercargill to begin his Bachelor of Digital Media. I've never been to Invercargill, but I know it is about the furtherest you can be away from Opotiki and home and still be in NZ. What is he saying to us?

Do you think Sam will learn to open his eyes while he's away at Uni then...??
You know - the beauty of a digital camera is that if the photo isn't so great you can take another one. Just a wee tip for you :-).
